How to make Dosa



To make dosa, you will need:

  • 1 cup urad dal (split black lentils)
  • 2 cups parboiled rice
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Soak the urad dal, rice, and fenugreek seeds in water for 4-6 hours.

  2. Drain the water and grind the mixture into a fine batter, adding water as needed. The batter should have a smooth consistency.

  3. Add salt to the batter and mix well. Allow the batter to ferment for 6-8 hours or overnight in a warm place.

  4. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and pour a ladleful of batter in the center. Spread the batter in a circular motion to form a thin, crepe-like dosa.

  5. Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges of the dosa and let cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.

  6. Carefully fold the dosa in half and serve with your choice of chutney or sambar.
